Access The Tools You Need
SiteScripter is focused on providing tools to library staff. There are three library-specific tools available to SiteScripter libraries -- Service Statistics, Academic Department Reps & Liaisons, and URL Checker. We are constantly working to add tools that our library customers tell us they need.
Service Statistics
The Service Statistics tool provides an online replacement for the tally sheets that service desks have maintained for many years. Any number of services can be tracked at any number of service locations within your library, including, for example, reference desks, circulation desks, and periodicals desks. You decide which service points and which service types to track. Your staff member simply pulls up the button bar at the start the shift and as questions come in, a click of the button records the transaction. This tool is available separately as an A La Carte subscription.
A large number of reports can be generated from the information collected at your service locations. In addition to totals and standard bar graphs, heat maps use colors to vividly express relationships between two variables, such as time of day and day of the week. And all of your data can be downloaded for additional analysis using your favorite spreadsheet program.
Academic Department Reps & Liaisons
The Academic Department Reps & Liaisons tool -- together with the Academic Department Codes tool -- provides a method for keeping track of which librarians are assigned to which academic departments, as well as who the departmental faculty representatives and department heads are. This tool provides a simple way to produce email addresses for any combination of department head, department rep, liaison librarian for collections, and liaison librarian for public services. This tool is available separately as an A La Carte subscription.
Additionally, directories can be automatically generated on any of your intranet web pages using this information.
URL Checker
The URL Checker tool provides an easy-to-use method of verifying that the URLs your library has in its catalog and web pages are still valid. The URLs might be exported from your online catalog, your web site, or any other resource you maintain. For checking URLs that are restricted to your campus network, an optional proxy configuration is available. URLs that cannot be reached are logged to a results file with the reason for the failire. Once all of the exported URLs have been checked, you simply download the results file for viewing in your favorite spreadsheet program. This tool is provided free of charge with any A La Carte subscription.
